Landlords Face Huge Fines

Landlords Face Huge Fines

Costa Del Sol landlords could be facing huge fines following a decree which was approved earlier this month.  A landlord now has three months to register with the Andalucian government, or risk a fine which could be between €18000 and #150000.  Landlords will also have to identify all travellers who stay in their property.

The hotel industry has been putting pressure on the government to tighten controls on private property rentals, these new laws are believed to be connected to this pressure.  Homes for rent will be required to adhere to strict standards, and subject to inspections.  Owners must be on the Tourism Register of Andalucia, and will need to provide up to date paperwork and identification to achieve this.
