Facemasks Now Mandatory At All Times
The Spanish government has decreed that facemasks must now be worn at all times, even where social distancing is possible. The new law published today in the BOE states that masks must be worn in all public places by everyone over the age of six. This even includes beaches and swimming pools, a move which is being described as a further blow for the tourism sector
The document says “People six years of age and older are obliged to use masks on public roads, in open-air spaces and in any closed space for public use or that is open to the public”. The law will be in effect until the government determines it is no longer required.
Facemask Exceptions
There are some exceptions to the new law. People participating in sports activities are not required to wear a mask. People with respiratory illness, and those with behavioural issues are also not required to wear a mask if exempted by a doctor.
