Fines For Owners Of Unregistered Dogs In Malaga

The deadline for dog owners in Malaga to provide a DNS sample from their pet has been extended, to the 31st December 2017.  Owners are expected to pay €35 to register their dog, provide a sample of DNA, and fit an ID tag to their dog’s collar.

8000 dogs have already been registered, though authorities are expecting many more before the end of the year.  The penalty for not providing the DNA sample and registering  dog is €130 per animal.

The DNA will be used to identify dogs who’s owners do not clean up after them in public places.
