Torremolinos Shopping Centre Delayed Again
An enormous leisure and retail complex which has been planned for Torremolinos has hit another delay. Building was work supposed to have begun by now, but a decision on the plans is now not expected to be made by the Junta until October or November.
The project, costing in the region of €550 million, has already been delayed for five years. The most recent delays have been caused by issues regarding flood effectiveness.
4000 Jobs
Intu own leisure and shopping centres throughout Europe, including the Trafford Centre in Manchester. Intu Costa Del Sol will generate 4000 new jobs in leisure and retail if it eventually gets off the ground.
Facilities
Alongside big name shopping brands, the complex would feature a central lake with a wave machine for surfing. It wouldl also have a huge artificial ski slope. Intu executive Salvador Arenere said there are also plans for a karting track, an ice rink, and a ferris wheel.
Access
The new Costa Del Sol leisure complex would be built close to the Palacio de Congresos on a 200,000 square metre plot. Access to the development will be via the A7. Intu have pledged €3million to improve local roads and access.
