Tributes Pouring In For Popular Expat. Matt Bush passed away suddenly on Thursday. A fundraiser has been set up to enable him to be repatriated to the UK and laid to rest near his family.

Tributes Pouring In For Popular Expat

Tributes are pouring in for Fuengirola resident Matthew Bush, who passed away after a brief battle with illness in hospital on the Costa Del Sol. Matt’s friends are now fundraising so that he can be returned to the UK to be laid to rest close to his family.

Alexandria Llorente who set up the fundraiser says “Matt was without doubt loved by so many people in the UK and Spain. He was always the life and soul of any party and equally the person who would be there first by your side for any help or support you needed day or night. In this difficult time we all want to help in some way. We have created this fundraiser to assist his family with any funeral costs to be able to get Bushy home with his Mum and beloved daughters.”

Ardingly To Fuengirola

Matthew Bush was born in Ardingly in West Sussex, where he grew up with his sister Lucy who now lives in Cyprus. Matt worked as an electrician at Ardingly College where he studied an apprenticeship, and was eventually promoted to head electrician.

In the year 2000 Matt and his wife Nicola decided to move to Spain. Matt studied computing, and the couple opened The Barnet Internet Lounge which they ran for 8 years. Their daughters Shannon and Mairianne both went to school on the Costa Del Sol, where the family immersed themselves in the local community. Despite separating from his wife, Matt remained close and devoted to his family.

Matt became ill in July 2021 and was admitted to hospital where he passed away on Thursday 22nd July. He was 50 years old. Matt’s funeral takes place on Wednesday the 28th July, though because of coronavirus restrictions his family has asked that only invited mourners attend. There will be a celebration of Matt’s life after the funeral, from 3.30pm at The London Pub in Fuengirola which all of his friends are invited to.

Matt’s wake will be at The London Pub in Fuengirola from 3.30pm on Wednesday.

Tributes To Matt Bush

Tributes have been pouring in for Matt since he passed away. Natalie Burgess remembers Matt as “the life and soul of the Costa Del Sol“. Erica Prior writes “A big man with an even bigger heart”. Nic Earl posted “One of a kind. A good friend, and a brilliant dad to two girls. The world is a bit darker without you in it”. Martyn Jones says “A guy who always had time and a smile for me. Way too early for your bad jokes to be taken away from us. Love and miss you big man”.
