Weekend Weather Warning Extended. The yellow weather warning for extreme heat on the Costa Del Sol has been upgraded and extended.
Weekend Weather Warning Extended
Spain’s national weather agency has modified the yellow alert for extreme heat on Saturday afternoon (3rd July). The alert level for Saturday is now an amber warning which is the second most severe. Some areas on the Costa Del Sol are likely to see temperatures reach 40c, whilst inland areas including Alhaurin are expecting highs between 38c and 40c.
The weather warning from AEMET has also been extended to include Sunday (4th July). The Costa Del Sol has been placed on yellow alert between 1pm and 7pm.
Increased Fire Risk
With the high temperatures comes an increased risk of fires which have been known to devastate areas of the Costa Del Sol in the past. There is also an increased risk to animals, as pet owners are being reminded to provide shade and water for their animals.

Types Of Weather Warnings
Yellow: Be aware. Severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect people in the concerned area. Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day-to-day activities.
Amber: Be prepared. There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting people in the concerned area, which could potentially disrupt people’s plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property.
Red: Take action. Extreme weather is expected. Red means people in the concerned areas should take action now to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.
