The Terral wind is blowing on the Costa Del Sol, pushing up temperatures. Some areas are experiencing highs of 36c today, and temperatures are expected to reach 38c on Saturday. The hot westerly wind is unlikely to push temperatures as high as last weekend when some places recorded highs of 42c.

Spain’s national weather agency AEMET has issued a yellow weather warning on Saturday afternoon for strong wind. The warning is in place between 12noon and 10pm, as winds could reach force 7 speeds (up to 56km/h) in coastal areas.

With the high temperatures comes an increased risk of fires which have been known to devastate areas of the Costa Del Sol in the last. There is also an increased risk to animals, as pet owners are being reminded to provide shade and water for their animals.

Red: Take action. Extreme weather is expected. Red means people in the concerned areas should take action now to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.
