Train, Play That Song

This song incorporates the melody of “Heart and Soul”, written by Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser. They are credited as writers, alongside Train lead singer Patrick Monahan and producer William Wiik Larsen.
A music video to accompany the release of “Play That Song” was first released onto YouTube on November 18, 2016. It shows Patrick Monahan dancing through a town during a warm sunny day with many fans joining in. They all pitch in to support the broadcast of their favourite song “Play That Song” on the local radio station. All action stops in front of the radio station as Monahan enters the building and the fans are anxiously waiting listening to the station through their radio. At the end, the fans have their way as the DJ is heard announcing: “All these requests coming in… You’ve spoken and asked for… You got it here at KTRN. It is ‘Play That Song'”. The supporting crowd bursts in joy with Monahan coming out of the KTRN studios triumphant that the song was aired for the first time.

Monahan commented on the video on the TrainVEVO YouTube channel by saying: “It was such a great time making the video for “Play That Song”. The idea to be on top of the world and have the whole town react to the happiness was super fun and corny and sweet and I wish life was really like this video!”
