Spanish PM Reassures Expats
Spain´s interim Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has said that freedom of movement, employment legislation, pensions, and electoral rights for expats in Spain will not be affected for the next two years. Rajoy said “during that time the security of the legal relationships between the UK and the EU do not change.”
He has also pleaded with Spaniards for “calmness and serenity”. Mariano Rajoy has said that the Spanish government views the UK´s decision to quit the EU “with sadness”.
No Referendum In Spain
There will be no referendum in Spain which he says “will remain committed to the EU. The EU is the area of greatest prosperity and wellbeing; we will continue building a better future between us. We need stability. Above all we will continue defending Spaniards’ interests and greater European integration. Spain now has a solid economic base in order to weather the financial turbulence which Brexit could cause. We are prepared.”
