Nightlife Covid Passport Plans Put On Hold
The Junta de Andalucia has placed plans to introduce covid passports for entry to nightlife venues on hold. The regional President had previously announced that new rules would come into force this Thursday (5th August) restricting access to nightclubs and disco bars to people with either a covid passport or a negative coronavirus test.
Junta Seeks Legal Approval
The measures have now been put on hold, as the regional government decided to seek approval from the Superior Court Of Justice Of Andalucia. Elias Bendodo, government spokesperson, said the decision was made “to have maximum legal security, as has been done during all the months of the pandemic.”
It is not yet known when the court will make a decision on the proposal. Bendodo said the new rules “will not come into force immediately, but when they answer us, which we hope will be as soon as possible”.
