Fuengirola’s Free Animal Adoption Scheme Extended. The town council will continue to pay for vaccinations and microchips to encourage animal adoptions.
Fuengirola’s Free Animal Adoption Scheme Extended
It will remain free to adopt an animal from Fuengirola’s municipal refuge after the council confirmed that the current scheme is being extended. The costs of sterilisation, a microchip, registration, and vaccination for abandoned animals are being covered by the council who are trying reducing the number of animals in the centre.
The number of animals being abandoned on the Costa Del Sol increased during the summer months. Councillor for Health Francisco Javier García Lara explains “It is very common for families to want to get rid of their pets, either because they go on holiday or because they have other priorities in life. We are appealing to these people to avoid this practice. If they are in this situation, they can contact the municipal refuge centre and we will find a suitable family for their pet”.
To enquire about animal adoption please contact the centre on 695 269 606. If you’re not registered in the Fuengirola area and would still like to adopt an animal, please click here and speak to Carl and Anita at Pawsawhile.
