Dry Weather Impacts Olive Harvest

The olive harvest in Malaga Province is expected to be down by 25% this year.  Olive growers are saying that the extremely dry conditions have had a huge impact on their harvest.  The quality and size of the olives is also being reduced by a lack of water.

The impact of the dry weather in Malaga Province is not as severe as some other areas in Andalucia.  The harvest in Jean, which is the largest olive growing region, could be down by as much as 50% this year.  Last year in Malaga Province 57,413 tonnes of olives were picked.
