Dog Insurance Law Delayed In Spain

Dog owners in Spain have been preparing to insure their pets and pass training tests ready for new animal welfare laws which were due to come into effect on the 29th September.   The introduction of these laws has been delayed by the Directorate General for Animal Rights, until a regulation which will allow development of the laws is approved.  No new date has been set for the introduction of the animal welfare regulations.

The delayed law will affect 9 million dog owners in Spain, who will be required to have civil liability insurance for their pets.  This will cover damage to people, property, and other pets.  The animal welfare laws will also see the owners of some breeds having to complete a responsible ownership course.
