This pioneering programme aims at rehabilitating the heritage of the Roman Theatre in Malaga, while offering new cultural activities to citizens and new opportunities for the local creative industries.
The programme is as follows: Memorias de Adriano (Memoirs of Hadrian) by La Tarasca from 2 to 4 July;Miles Gloriosus (The Swaggering Soldier) by Compañía de Clásicos Contemporáneos from 8 to 11 July (première); Restos/Fedra (Remains/Phaedra) by TNT from 16 to 18 July (première); Euripides’s Medea by Induo Teatro Producciones from 23 to 25 July.
Málaga’s Roman Theatre is at the foot of the Arab Fortress. It dates back to the first century AD. In the days of the Roman Empire, Málaga was a thriving city. The Roman Theatre embodies its power and thrift, being both a recreational and a political space where social categories were represented and power relations, staged.
