Benalmadena Pet Shop Fire

A Benalmadena Pet Shop Fire has killed dozens of animals as fire fighters battled to save turtles, fish, guinea pigs, and birds. The animals perished in the blaze at the shop on Calle Las Flores in Arroyo de la Miel near Benalmadena.

The pet shop is frequented by locals and expats, and offers animal grooming services as well as selling pet supplies. The fire broke out at about 7.30 this morning, and fire fighters arrived on the scene minutes later. The fire fighters were there until 10am and managed to save a number of turtles and hamsters. The fire broke out in the pet shop which has been gutted. Surrounding buildings were evacuated but suffered only minimal damage.
