Nerja Animal Shelter Closed – now appealing for foster carers to take in animals
Nerja Animal Shelter Closed
Nerja Animal Shelter Closed – the APA Nerja Estacion Esperanza has closed it´s doors after only eight months. The shelter had become overwhelmed by the numbers of animals needing care. It had been built on rented land which could not be concreted, and this lead to some hygiene issues.
Donations
The animal shelter had been funded entirely by donations. President Laura Leanne Downes said “funds have to be raised for food, dogs and cats transported backwards and forward from vets, vaccinations given to puppies who also have to be micro-chipped as this is the law, and all the money to achieve this had to come from donations and fundraising.”
Closed Down
President Laura Downes went on to say “It became apparent that the Charity was no longer able to sustain the level of dogs in its care and the painful decision was made that the Shelter had to close, the decision has not been taken easily nor quickly,”
Foster Care
The charity is now appealing for members of the public to foster or adopt the animals who are in desperate need of rehoming. All of the dogs have been socialised already. To find out more please contact apanerja@apanerja.com
