Ajoblanco Festival. A day of festivities with music, singing, dancing, drinking, and eating in Almachar.
Ajoblanco Festival
The Ajoblanco Festival is the oldest food festival in Malaga province. Taking place on the first Saturday in September in Almachar to the east of Malaga, the festival celebrates the traditional local delicacy of ajoblanco. People travel from all over the region to enjoy traditional music, flamenco dancing, food, and drink. In the evening a ceremonial bonfire is lit which burns through until dawn the next day.
Ajoblanco
Ajoblanco is a traditional cold soup, mainly from Granada and Malaga. The soup is made with bread, crushed almonds, garlic, water, olive oil, salt and sometimes vinegar. It is often served with grapes.
