The annual Feria del Rosario in Fuengirola is widely regarded as one of the largest, most vibrant, and most prestigious autumn celebrations on the Costa del Sol. Held every October in honour of the town’s patron saint, Nuestra Señora del Rosario, this week long festival blends deep rooted Andalusian traditions with spectacular entertainment for all ages.

What Makes the Fuengirola Feria Special?

Fuengirola’s feria ground is purpose built and features permanent casetas (festival marquees and venues) lining paved streets. During the day, the fairground comes alive with elegant horse and carriage processions (Paseo de Caballos), traditional flamenco dresses, and lively street performances.

As night falls the fairground transforms into an energetic hub of music and celebration. The casetas – most of which offer free entry – serve authentic regional food, tapas, wine, and traditional rebujito, alongside live performances ranging from traditional sevillanas to top national pop and rock acts.

🎆 Tuesday, 6th October: Opening Night & Lights Switch On

The celebrations officially begin on Tuesday evening with the opening speech (pregón) at the Palacio de la Paz, followed by the ceremonial switching-on of thousands of festive fairground lights and a spectacular fireworks display.

🌹 Wednesday, 7th October: Feast Day of the Virgen del Rosario

The festival’s most solemn and culturally significant day starts early with an outdoor Flamenco Mass (Misa Flamenca) in the Plaza de la Constitución. Following the service, a magnificent religious procession carries the image of the patron saint through the streets of Fuengirola, accompanied by locals in traditional attire.

🎡 Thursday, 8th October: Children’s Day (Día del Niño)

A family favourite! The fairground’s extensive selection of rides and attractions operate at a 50% discount throughout the afternoon and evening.

💃 Friday, 9th – Monday, 12th October: Concerts, Shows & Celebrations

The festivities continue through the holiday weekend with daily equestrian displays, daytime dining in the casetas, and headline concerts featuring prominent Spanish artists at the Palacio de la Paz. The fair concludes on Monday, 12th October (Día de la Hispanidad).

Practical Information for Visitors

• How to Get There: The Recinto Ferial is conveniently located near the centre of Fuengirola. If arriving by train, take the C-1 Cercanías line to Fuengirola station, which is just a 10-minute walk from the fairground.

• Parking: Parking directly around the fairground is restricted during feria week. It is highly recommended to use public transport or park in surrounding underground public car parks (such as Plaza de la Constitución or Parque de España).

• Family Friendly: In addition to Children’s Day discounts, the fairground includes a dedicated, well equipped rides section and supervised family zones.
