The Nerja Caves Festival of music and dance, at which the “Le Tour de Paris” ballet was performed accompanied by the Malaga Symphony Orchestra for the public inauguration of the Cueva de Nerja on 12 June 1960. Since then numerous artists have passed through the Ballet Hall of the stature of Antonio el Bailarín (1963), Rostropovich (1991), Maya Plisetkaya (1991), Yehudi Menuhin (1992), Joaquín Cortés (1993), Alfredo Kraus (1996), Monserrat Caballé (1999), Ainhoa Arteta (2000 y 2008), José Carreras (2001), Kiri Te Kanawa (2002), Paco de Lucía (2004), Bebo Valdés (2005), Carlos Álvarez (2005), José Mercé (2008), José Carreras (2009), Joan Manuel Serrat (2009), Sara Baras (2009), Julio Bocca (2010) or Estrella Morente (2010).
The Cuevas de Nerja International Festival of Music and Dance arrives this year with eight performances, four of which are scheduled for the cavern and the other four a new stage: the Plaza de España in the locality of Nerja.
