160 Emergency Calls During Bad Weather
This weekend the Costa Del Sol experienced flooding and a mini tornado. 165 litres of rain fell in the area last week, which is a third of the entire rain fall on the Costa Del Sol recorded in 2015.
Rescues
Emergency services received 160 calls from people affected by the flooding. Two tourists had to be rescued in Velez Malaga, after their car was overwhelmed by flood waters. Firefighters had to remove rocks and fallen trees from roads across the Costa Del Sol, including Calle Oropéndola de Fuengirola in Malaga and the main road in Alhaurin de la Torre.
Fire fighters also had to rescue people stranded in a car which became stuck in mud and flood water in Las Lagunas, Fuengirola.
Floods
In Mijas and Fuengirola drivers were trapped in their cars by rising flood waters. The main road in Cartama was flooded after the river burst it’s banks. In Marbella, the Avenida Nabeul was also flooded.
