A group of British and Spanish children have been caught up in a potential tragedy in Manilva today.  They were playing inside a drainage pipe exit on the beach, when they set several mattresses on fire.  One child was not able to get out of the pipe, before the thick smoke forced him inside the waterways where he became stuck under the La Colonia area of Sabanillas.

The boy was heard screaming for help by passers by, who forced a man hole open and pulled the boy to safety.  An ambulance treated the boy (pictured) for smoke inhalation, as fire fighters put out the blaze.  Police are now investigating the incident and speaking to the families of the children involved.
