Costa Del Sol Beaches Reach Full Capacity
Several local beaches had to restrict entry over the weekend as they reached full capacity. Contrary to reports in the British press, the beaches were not actually closed. Fernando Leiva works with a team who monitor the number of people using the beach in Fuengirola. He says “We don’t actually close the beach when it gets full, we just don’t let anyone else onto the sand until some people have left. The papers make it sound like we close the beach and send everyone home, that doesn’t happen!”.
No Reservation Needed
Several beaches in the Nerja area were full on Sunday, along with beaches in Benalmadena and Fuengirola. Some parts of Spain have introduced a booking system to manage the numbers, though it’s not thought this policy will be adopted in Andalucia.
