Costa Del Sol Drugs Gang Smashed – Guardia Civil have broken up a drugs gang
Costa Del Sol Drugs Gang Smashed
Guardia Civil have arrested 18 people who were part of a drugs gang. Their operation was foiled when police stopped a white van travelling on the A7. The driver ran off rather than be caught with the van, which contained crates of fruit that were stuffed with hashish.
The drugs had been vacuum sealed and packed in with fresh oranges, to be transported to the UK. The discovery of the van led police to operations in Marbella, Estepona, Torrox, Seville Los Palacios, Villafranca and Alcala de Guadaira.
Legal Haulage Companies
The drugs gang were using two legal haulage companies to transport their drugs in shipments of fruit from Spain to the UK. The shipments all had legal paperwork.
Arrests
The 18 people arrested are from Algeria, France, Paraguay, Portugal and Spain. Two gunmen who had been hired to protect the drugs were among those arrested. The undamaged fruit has been donated to a local food bank, whilst the gang members now await trial.
