Costa Del Sol Ferias Cancelled. All of the popular feria events this summer on the Costa Del Sol are being cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The regional government in Andalucia has recommended that all of this summer’s feria events are cancelled. At the moment the cancellations extend through June, July, and August. Though the final decision rests with local councils, it’s unlikely that any will push ahead with plans to hold the events.

37 ferias have been cancelled in total, delivering a huge blow to the region’s economy. Elias Bendodo from the Junta De Andalucia says it would be impossible to maintain the strict social distancing and health protocols at these events.

Focus On 2021 Events

Mijas Councillor Tamara Vera says that despite the disappointment of cancelling events. there will be a renewed effort to come back even bigger next year. “Right now and due to restrictions and sanitary recommendations, it is unfeasible to carry out this type of events that bring together to thousands of people in just a few days, so it has been decided to cancel this edition of the Las Lagunas 2020 Fiestas and Fair and we are sure that we will be able to enjoy it even more eagerly next year ”.
