Dolphin And Cow Washed Up On Fuengirola Beach

A severe storm battered the Costa Del Sol last week, causing extensive damage to beaches in the Malaga area. A baby dolphin washed up onto Fuengirola beach during the storms.  8 foot high waves were crashing onto the beach, and  the dolphin became stranded.  Local police tried hard to keep the animal hydrated, but marine life experts were unable to save it.

Here you can see video footage of the dolphin being taken into care.  Thanks to 93.6 Global Radio listener Jamie Watkins for this footage, which he shot on Friday the 21st April.  Some readers may find this content disturbing.

Below is video footage of a police officer protecting the dolphin as marine experts rushed to the scene.

During the storms, the corpse of a cow was also washed up onto Fuengirola beach.  As there are no cattle farms in the area, it’s origins remain a mystery.  Police say the cow had been dead for three days before it was washed up onto the beach.
