Fires Broke Out During Weekend Heatwave.  The Costa Del Sol baked in the summer sun this weekend as emergency services were stretched to the limit by wild fires.

Fires Broke Out During Weekend Heatwave

This weekend the Costa Del Sol experienced the highest temperatures of the year so far, as emergency services were swamped by multiple wild fires.  Official figures show that temperatures in Velez Malaga reached 45.6c on Sunday, and Malaga experienced highs of 43c.

The high temperatures lead to several wild fires breaking out.  San Pedro and Benahavis both suffered from major blazes which were tackled by more than 30 firefighters and aircraft.  A major fire also broke out in the El Chorro area.
