No Pets In Spanish Pet Shops

No Pets In Spanish Pet Shops – the government in Spain may ban live animal sales in shops

No Pets In Spanish Pet Shops

Currently, you will see kittens and puppies for sale in cages in pet shops here on the Costa Del Sol.  PSOE, Podemos, and Ciudadanos have proposed an end to this practice.  If the government passes this law then there will be no pets in Spanish pet shops.  People would have to buy pets from registered breeders with all the required legal paperwork.

Animal Abandonment

Animal activists hope that this would deter impulse buying of cute pets on display in shops.  Spain has one of the highest animal abandonment rates in Europe, with 16 cats and dogs thought to be abandoned every year.
