Water Restrictions Imposed On Costa Del Sol

Emergency drought crisis measures are being introduced in some places on the Costa Del Sol, as the Junta de Andalucia aims to reduce consuption by 10%.  Reservoir levels remain  desperately low following one of the driest winter periods on record.

Some of the measures being implemented include cutting the water supply to 50% of the beach showers and footbaths in Torremolinos.  A poster campaign urging responsible water use is being deployed in Fuengirola, where the council are now only using water which is unsuitable for drinking to wash the streets.  Water has also been cut at many beach showers in Rincon De La Victoria.

Costa Del Sol Golf Courses

Local authorities are also pleading with golf courses to reduce the amount of water used for irrigation, and where possible to change to recycled water sources.
