Fuengirola Dead Fish

Fuengirola Dead Fish – Hundreds of dead fish have washed up on a Fuengirola river bed

Fuengirola Dead Fish

Fuengirola council have brought in a team of people to clean up the Parque Fluvial site.  The 12 workers are using a JCB to remove hundreds of dead mullet fish from the river bed.

Poisoned

Some residents have suggested that the fish have been deliberately poisoned, though this is unlikely.  A local marine life expert has said that the salt water fish would have entered the river and then been left stranded by a lack of seawater.  The JCB is being used to dig a channel to allow a better flow of water from the river into the sea, which should prevent similar incidents in the near future.

Smell

Locals have been complaining about the smell of dead and rotting fish on the river bed.  The council have said that they are working as quickly as possible to clear up the site.
