SAS Will Not Patrol Beaches In Spain –  a story circulating about SAS troops patrolling Spanish beaches has been debunked

SAS Will Not Patrol Beaches In Spain

A story has been circulating that 100 SAS troops are being sent to mainland Spain (including the Costa Del Sol) and the Spanish islands to protect tourists from terroristists.  ISIS have made direct threats to tourist hotspots in Spain in the past.

The headline that 100 SAS troops were being dispatched to patrol beaches has gathered momentum on social media since the Manchester terrorist attack.  However, Spanish security forces and tourist departments have not been able to corroborate the story and believe it is unlikely that the UK would send undercover troops to Spain without their knowledge.

An ex-military source said “This story is a non story.  There is no way that SAS troops are undercover on Costa Del Sol beaches, it just doesn’t make sense on any level.”
