Screams Alert Police to Spanish Exorcism

Chilling screams alerted police in northern Spain to an exorcism said to be carried out by a religious cult.

The ceremony was said to be being lead by a priest-cum-shaman in a flat in Oviedo and was watched by a group of young people.

Officials from the Catholic Church have denied any involvement with a representative from Oviedo cathedral describing the event as a “cult ritual, faith healing or voodoo”.

The victim, said to be from South America, was taken to hospital in a “state of great mental anguish”.  She has since been discharged with no physical injuries.

No charges have been brought by police.
