Yellow Snow Warning For Andalucia
Snow has been falling in Spain, and AEMET (the national weather agency) has issued a yellow alert. The warning remains in place until Friday 20th January 2017. Gritters have been treating main roads overnight, though some routes in the Ronda area remain impassible.
Snow in Malaga
Snow has fallen in Malaga for the first time in over a decade. Winds have been recorded at almost 90mph, as motorists are advised to slow down on exposed routes. Mijas Pueblo has also seen snowfall, along with the mountains at Benalmadena and the Sierra Bermeja above Estepona. Sleet has been reported in Fuengirola and Marbella. Cartama, Alhaurin, and Axarquia have also had flurries of snow.
Ronda
Ronda has been one of the areas worst affected by the snowfall. Up to 6 centimetres of snow fell in Ronda overnight. Today the schools in Ronda are closed. Many of the areas main roads are treacherous, and routes around the hospital have also been affected. Emergency services worked through the night to clear paths for emergency vehicles to use.
