Latest Costa Del Sol Weather Warnings.  Local weather warnings have been downgraded to yellow but extended to remain in place for three days.

Latest Costa Del Sol Weather Warnings

The Costa Del Sol has been placed on Yellow Alert for gale force winds today, tomorrow, and on Thursday.  Previously an amber alert had been issued for Wednesday, but this has now been downgraded.  Yellow is least severe of the three warning levels.

The weather warnings from AEMET (Spain’s national weather agency) are specifically for strong winds on the coast throughout Tuesday 25th January, Wednesday 26th January, and Thursday 27th January.  Wind speeds are expected to reach force 7, which is around 60km/h.  Waves during a force 7 storm can reach 3 metres.

There could be some rain to accompany the wind, but nothing heavier than a light drizzle is being forecast.  Click here to see the latest forecast for the Costa Del Sol.

Types Of Weather Warnings

Yellow: Be aware. Severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect people in the concerned area. Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day-to-day activities.

Amber: Be prepared. There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting people in the concerned area, which could potentially disrupt people’s plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property.

Red: Take action. Extreme weather is expected. Red means people in the concerned areas should take action now to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.
