Young Vulture Rescued In Puerto Banus. The bird was saved from the water by a paddle boarder after it became tired on a migration flight and fell into the sea.
Young Vulture Rescued In Puerto Banus
A young black vulture has been saved from the sea in Puerto Banus by a paddle boarder. The man spotted the bird in the water and was able to bring it to a breakwater at Muelle de Honor and contact emergency services. Local police then transported the vulture to a specialist facility in Malaga.
Experts treating the vulture estimate it to be only a few months old, and in generally good health. However the bird was suffering from dehydration and exhaustion. It’s thought that the vulture may have been trying to migrate but due to it’s age an inexperience was unable to complete the journey. The vulture is being kept at the centre for observation and will soon be released into a suitable habitat.
The Black vulture is less common the than the Griffon in Andalucia.

The “Black vulture” is considered a vulnerable species and is far less common in Andalucia than the Griffin vulture. The Black vulture can grow to be 1.2m long, with a 3.1m wing span. They prefer to live alone or in pairs in high, dry, rocky places.
