Reservoirs Need More Rain As Levels Remain Low

Water levels at the reservoirs which serve Malaga Province and the Costa Del Sol remain low despite recent rainfall.  Traditionally September is a wet month but so far this year the rainfall has not been sufficient to help water levels recover.

The reservoir suffering from the lowest levels right now is La Vinuela which supplies water to 14 towns and 220,000 people in the Axarquia area.   The reservoir levels are now at just 7.88% of capacity.

Costa Del Sol Water Supplies

Other reservoirs in the region are also running low, including the Embalse Conde De Guadalhorce which supplies Malaga city.  This reservoir is at 18.18% of capacity.  La Conception which supplies most of the Costa Del Sol is in a better situation, with water levels at 37.1%.
