African Lynx Captured In Marbella
Guardia Civil officers have captured an African Lynx which was discovered hiding in a garden in Marbella. The animal had escaped from a private residence 20km away. After the cat had been safely rescued officers discovered it had been illegally imported from Moscow in 2022, being listed on transport papers as a domestic cat. The African Lynx is thought to be two years old, weighs 20 kilograms, and has been named Jakar.
The animal has now been transferred to the care of AAP Primadomus in Alicante, an organisation who care for rescued exotic animals.
The African Lynx
The Caracal, often referred to as the African lynx or desert lynx, is a medium-sized wild cat native to various regions in Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia. It has distinctive tufted ears, a reddish-brown coat, and a well-built body. Caracals are known for their remarkable agility and hunting skills, capable of catching birds in mid-air and taking down prey larger than themselves.
