Endanged Shark Spotted Off Marbella Coast
An endangered shark has been seen swimming near Marbella this weekend. The basking shark made a surprise appearance around 300 feet from the beach. Marine biologists from the Fundación Aula del Mar Mediterráneo have said that these sharks are not uncommon in the Mediterranean, though it is rare for them to swim to close to shore.

The basking shark was seen about 300 feet from the shore.
Basking sharks can grow up to 12 metres long, they are harmless and pose no threat to humans. They are the second largest species of fish in the world. Basking sharks are an endangered species. They were heavily fished in the past for their liver oil, which was used for lighting.
