Latest Costa Del Sol Weather Warnings. Tuesday’s yellow alert has been upgraded to an amber alert for high temperatures, and a new yellow warning has been issued for winds and high heat on Wednesday.
Latest Costa Del Sol Weather Warnings
There’s now an amber level weather warning in place for extreme heat on Tuesday (19th August), and a yellow alert for Wednesday (20th August). The warnings come from Spain’s national weather agency (AEMET), who are advising that temperatures on Tuesday could reach 40c, and on Wednesday the Costa Del Sol could experience highs of 38c. The weather warnings are active between 1pm and 9pm on both days.
Gale Force Winds On Wednesday
Wednesday’s yellow warning for high heat also includes a warning for gale force 7 winds on the coast. Wind speeds are expected to reach 60km/h and waves could reach heights of 3 metres.

High temperatures can potentially pose a risk to people, and pet owners are being reminded to provide shade and water for their animals. There is also an increased risk of fires which have been known to devastate areas of the Costa Del Sol.

Emergency services are on standby to deal with fires caused by the high temperatures.

Types Of Weather Warnings
Yellow: Be aware. Severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect people in the concerned area. Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day-to-day activities.
Amber: Be prepared. There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting people in the concerned area, which could potentially disrupt people’s plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property.
Red: Take action. Extreme weather is expected. Red means people in the concerned areas should take action now to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.
