50 Arrests For Brexit Document Fraud In Marbella
Police in Marbella have broken up two criminal networks and made 50 arrests in connection with document fraud. The groups were charging Brits up to €1600 to provide false documents related to residency in Spain after Brexit. Immigration officials became suspicious after rejecting 120 applications for residency and tipped off the police.
National Police along with the immigration department investigated more than 200 residency applications from British people, more than half of those were found to be fraudulent. Intended to prove residency in Spain before Brexit, the forged documents submitted included fake rental agreements, work contracts, bank statements, and insurance policies.
