Andalucia Reducing Restrictions In Two Stages

Andalucia is adopting a two stage reduction of the coronavirus restrictions.  The regional president Juanma Moreno announced that the plan will “give oxygen to the economy whilst protecting the health of the people of Andalucia”. Shopkeepers are praising the relaxed restrictions, but hospitality sector businesses are critical.  The Horeca trade association has now broken ties with the Junta and described the new rules as “ridiculous”.

Andalucia Stage One

Stage One will be in operation from the 12th to the 17th December. The main changes during this stage are:

  • Travel permitted between municipalities
  • All shops can stay open until 9pm

Bars and restaurants must still close at 6pm, though take-away can be offered until 9.30pm.  The curfew times remain from 10pm until 7am.

Andalucia Stage Two

Stage Two will come into effect on the 18th December, and remain in place until the 10th January 2021.  The additional changes during this phase are:

  • Movement between provinces within Andalucia will be  permitted
  • Curfew will be from 11pm until 6am
  • Bars and restaurants must close at 6pm, but may reopen between 8pm and 10.30pm

On Christmas Eve and New Years Eve the curfew has been pushed back to 1.30am to allow family members to travel home from celebrations.  Travel outside of Andalucia will be permitted to see family between the 23rd December and the 6th January.  Numbers at social gatherings will be increased to a limit of 10 on the 24th, 25th, and 31st December, and the 1st of January.
