Banderas Quits Malaga Arts Project
Antonio Banderas has pulled out of a project which had planned to inject new life into an area of Malaga city centre which is earmarked for development and improvement. The actor had been planning to help renovate two rundown cinemas, turning them into arts and cultural centres. The plans included a theatre, artistic workspace, acting and directing courses and workshops, support for Malaga students, and dance workshops.
Lack Of Support
Disinterest and criticism are what lead the star to pull out the project. Left-wing Izquierda Unida’s Eduardo Zorrilla has said that he always treated Antonio Banderas with “the utmost respect”. He goes on to say that he was simply pointing out the project was not best suited for the people of Malaga as it would be giving away the best plot of land in the city.
Antonio Banderas said it has become clear that “Malaga doesn’t have the right environment to develop this sort of project at this point in time.”
