Benalmadena’s famous Tivoli World theme park has been closed since 2020, with it’s future remaining uncertain until now.  The derelict attraction has received a huge boost with the announcement of a plan to redevelop and reopen the park.  Tivoli World’s owners, the Tremón real estate group, have reached an agreement with Benalmadena council which will be formalised on Friday 21st February.

Tivoli World’s redevelopment is going to cost €200 million, and will take two to three years to complete.  Not only will the theme park be restored and modernised, a new hotel will be built on the site along with other commercial facilities.

Tivoli World Ride

Tivoli World featured rides, gardens, and hosted music events.

Tivoli World Benalmadena

Designed and developed by Danish businessman Bernt Olsen, Tivoli World was inspired by the famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark. The theme park featured a variety of rides, shows, and attractions, including a large roller coaster, a Ferris wheel, and a water flume.

Tivoli World will be redeveloped at a cost of €200 million.

Tivoli World enjoyed its heyday in the 1980s and 1990s. It was a popular venue for concerts and events, attracting major international artists. In the 2000s, the park began to face financial difficulties. It changed ownership several times, and investment in new attractions dwindled. In 2020, Tivoli World was closed.
