An unnamed British man, 62 years old,  has been killed whilst hiking to the summit of La Concha near Marbella.  On Saturday afternoon his family in the UK received a text message from him, saying he was lost and needed assistance.  The family contacted emergency services in the UK, who communicated with the consul in Spain to arrange a rescue operation.

Fall In Steep Terrain

The Guardia Civil’s rescue division mobilised a helicopter team to search for the missing hiker.  The man was discovered on Sunday morning at 9am in steep terrain.  It’s thought that he fell, and may have been choked by the straps on his backpack.

Police have said that the circumstances of the man’s death are not suspicious.
