Calima Could Be Coming Back Today
The calima is expected to come back to the Costa Del Sol today, though with no rain expected it’s impact will be mainly visual The phenomenon known as the “calima” is a haze caused by sand which has been blown to the Costa Del Sol from the Sahara desert. Visibility will be reduced and things may appear hazy with an orange hue.
Last year the calima was accompanied by heavy rain which caused the sand to be deposited as a muddy silt. This affected roads and visibility, and caused carnage with swimming pools and outdoor facilites. Chances of a repeat of these conditions this week are slim.
