Costa Del Sol Schools Closed On Wednesday.  All schools on the Costa Del Sol will be closed due to an amber weather warning for torrential rain and gale force winds on Wednesday.

Midweek Weather Warning For The Costa Del Sol

Andalucia’s regional government has announced that all schools will be closed on Wednesday (except in Almeria).  This is due to a severe weather warning issued by Spain’s national weather agency (AEMET).

Amber weather warnings are in place for the Costa Del Sol on Wednesday (4th February),  The warnings are for gale force 8 winds which could reach speeds of up to 80kmh, and torrential rain fall of 15mm an hour .  4 metre waves could also hit the coast. The warnings are active from midnight for 24 hours.  Amber is the second most severe of the weather warning levels.

On Thursday the severity of the alert is being reduced to a yellow warning.  Torrential rain and gale force 7 winds are expected throughout the day.

Amber: Be prepared. There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting people in the concerned area, which could potentially disrupt people’s plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property.

Red: Take action. Extreme weather is expected. Red means people in the concerned areas should take action now to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.
