The re-emergence of warm weather has lead to a dramatic increase in the number of tiger mosquitoes on the Costa Del Sol.  The insects can carry diseases including yellow fever and zika.  Medical insurance claims have risen by 739% from 2016 because of skin problems caused by the tiger mosquito’s bite.

Residents and holiday makers are being advised to make sure their medical cover will insure them against skin conditions brought on by tiger mosquito bites.  The advice also recommends checking that mosquito repellents are effective against the tiger mosquito, and are used frequently.
