Cyclists Start Epic Race In La Cala De Mijas
Hundreds of people turned out to see the beginning of the Vuelta A Andalucia in La Cala De Mijas this morning. 16 teams are taking part in this year’s tour of the region, including British rider Mark Cavendish who has just won four stages in Turkey.
The race began at the feria ground in La Cala De Mijas this morning, with an excited crowd cheering the cyclists on their way. Travelling through Fuengirola and Alhaurin de la Torre, the first stage finished at Zahara De La Sierra in Cadiz. The first stage (152.1km) has been won by Team Movistar cyclist Gonzalo Serrano.
Vuelta A Andalucia Stages
Over the next five days, the teams will make their way around Andalucia. These are the remaining stages of the race:
- 2nd stage: Wednesday 19 May. Iznájar (Córdoba) -Alcalá la Real (Jaén), 183 km.
- 3rd stage: Thursday, May 20. Beas de Segura (Jaén) -Villarodrigo (Jaén), 175.1 km.
- 4th stage: Friday, May 21. Baza (Granada) -Cúllar Vega (Granada), 182.9 km.
- 5th stage: Saturday May 22nd. Vera (Almería) – Geoda de Pulpí (Almería), 114.5 km.
