Emergency Warning System Tested In Andalucia

Thousands of people in Andalucia have received text alerts from the new nationwide emergency warning system today.  The system is designed to alert citizens in Spain of national and global emergencies.  When an alert is sent your mobile phone should play a warning tone and display a text message.

The messages sent through the system today say “Esto es un mensaje de prueba del nuevo sistema español de avisos de emergencias a través de redes de telefonía móvil [112 inverso] enviado por los Servicios de Protección Civil de la Junta de Andalucía”.  This explains that the message is a test of the new system and not an actual emergency warning.

The message will display as being sent by 112 inverso.  If you receive one just press “Aceptar” and it will disappear from your screen .
