Fox 21 TV Show Begins Filming In Malaga

Malaga born movie star Antonio Banderas is starring in a ten part TV drama about Picasso, which begins filming in Malaga this week. The show is a joint effort between Fox 21 (an offshoot of 21st Century Fox) and The Discovery Channel.

Filming will take place in several key Malaga locations, including the Bullring where Picasso first watched bull fighting, Santiago church where we was baptised, and his childhood home in Malaga. The show will also be filming in other cities around the world including Paris and Budapest.

Ron Howard (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Rush) is producing the series, which will tell the life story of Malaga’s most famous artist. He says “Antonio was the natural choice. He, like Picasso, has a no-holds-barred approach to life that will add to the genuineness that we’re looking for.”

Antonio Banderas said “The life story of Pablo Picasso has long since fascinated me and I have so much respect for this man, who also comes from my birthplace Malaga. I am thrilled to work with National Geographic and the rest of the Genius team to tell an authentic story of one of the most innovative painters in the world.”
