Heavy Rain Helps Reservoirs Recover

Water levels at the reservoirs which supply Malaga Province and the Costa Del Sol have been boosted by the heavy rain this week.  It’s hoped that the reservoirs will recover sufficiently to avoid water shortages this summer.

The reservoir which supplies most of the Costa Del Sol has seen the biggest increase in water levels.  La Concepcion water levels are now at an impressive 75.81%.of capacity.  This time last year the level was below 25%.

The Embalse Conde De Guadalhorce which supplies Malaga city has increased to 92.42%, in March last year the level was just 19.7% of capacity.

La Vinuela reservoir supplies water to 14 towns and 220,000 people in the Axarquia area.  In March last year the reservoir levels were at 7.8% of capacity.  Today the amount of water is at 26.67% of capacity.
